Loco Express is an unraced 4yo filly who didn’t quite live up to her name – she’s more of an all stops service than an express. While this 15.2hh sweetheart never made it to the track, she is ready to make her new owner smile from ear to ear. Loco Express retired sound with no injuries or scars. She has no vices, is easy to catch and handle and is ready for her next challenge in any equestrian discipline. She has been taken on trail rides and behaved sensibly and has also been put over some small jumps. Due to her age, Loco Express will need an intermediate or better rider to continue her education. Lexie, as we have nicknamed her, is currently located at Beltrees.
When our Oxley Island Farm Manager, Mal Fitzgerald, identifies a horse with potential we all take note and he’s declared 5yo Niagara x Miss Prickle gelding Aeecee Delighted the pick of the current herd. AC/DC, as he is affectionately known, stands at 16.2hh and is an absolute gentleman in every way. He has a quiet and sweet temperament, travels well and is easy to catch and handle. He would suit a range of equestrian disciplines from low-level showjumping to trail riding. He did retire from racing with a low-grade tendon strain which has now healed but is unlikely to stand up to the demands of high-level competition. Aeecee Delighted is currently at our Oxley Island retirement farm. Get in touch if you would like more information or to book in a time to visit.
Five Stars Partner has been an ally to the minimum-security inmates at St Heliers Correctional Centre for more than three years, helping them learn horse care and handling in preparation for their return to society. Now it’s time for him to find a loving forever home of his own. This handsome 7yo Rothesay x Bise gelding stands at 16.3hh and has a quiet, willing and trainable nature. He’s been ridden out on trails both alone and in a group and would suit an intermediate or better rider. Five Stars Partner has recovered from a tendon injury and could also turn his hoof to low-level competition.
Ceaseless is an athletic 6yo gelding who has the potential to be competitive as an eventer. By Pendragon from Lasting Chance and bred at Think Big Stud, he stands at 16.1hh and retired from racing in February 2019 with a record of three wins from 18 starts. He is friendly and easy to handle on the ground but he’s not a beginner’s horse and will need a strong intermediate rider to get the best out of him. He’s a mild windsucker but has no trouble maintaining condition. It’s bitterly cold at Capertee at the moment so Ceaseless does have his Winter coat on, but as you can see from the first photo he looks incredible in the warmer months. Want to meet Ceaseless? If you are looking for a quiet horse to go on slow and steady trail rides with, 5yo gelding Man Up Son could be the one. Solidly built and with a beautiful temperament, this 15.1hh son of Denman x Sunup is a pleasure to ride. Man Up Son retired sound from racing in May 2018 but has gone sore a couple of times since so it’s best he is only kept in light work. He can be lazy at times so he needs an intermediate rider to get him going. Man Up Son has just begun work after a long spell and is in paddock condition but presents a wonderful opportunity for the right person.
Silent Opinion is a 3yo gelding by super sire So You Think out of Fast N Famous mare, Number Five. A suspensory ligament injury dashed any hopes of a racing career and while he is not likely to stand up to intensive work, he is certainly sound now and would make an ideal trail/pleasure horse.
Silent Opinion has only been with Team Thoroughbred since the start of the year but has handled his work with a chilled out attitude and loving nature. He stands at approximately 15.2hh and staff who work with him at Bart’s Farm describe him as a cool, quiet little dude.
Schoolmates is a 17hh gentle giant who would make an ideal all-rounder for low-level competition. The lightly-raced Redoute’s Choice x Fume Blanc gelding is only 5 years old but learns quickly, is easy to handle and has no nasties in him. He’s comfortable to ride and has been popping over small jumps recently.
Lucky Assassin is a well-built 7yo gelding by Murtajill from Rushcutter who stands at 15.2hh. He has a soft mouth and a trainable attitude but does sometimes get impatient so he needs an experienced handler and rider who will build a solid foundation in him. That said, he is only at the start of his retraining journey and improves with every ride. Lucky is agile, sure-footed and would be a handy addition to a polocrosse home.
Delicato is a 15.3hh 4yo gelding by Exceedingly Good from Delicata. He has floaty, ground-covering paces that would turn heads in the dressage arena and has also shown plenty of scope over jumps, making him an ideal showjumping or eventing prospect. Delicato trialled once but never made it to the races as he was suspended for being too slow. He is sound, friendly and has no dirt in him. We can’t believe he hasn’t been snapped up already! Delicato is located at Oxley Island, NSW.
Gazimber is 10yo Conatus x Archways Baby gelding who wants to take you on long and steady trail rides. Standing at 16hh, Gaz is an even-tempered horse with a soft mouth and lovely self-carriage. He retired sound from racing in January 2020 after only 16 starts but already has the basics established as his previous trainer Michael Lynch was a showjumper. Gazimber would also be suitable for low-level jumping and dressage. Gaz does have a damaged wither but as you can see in the photographs it’s not severe. He is currently located at Capertee.
