PARTNERSHIP ORGANISATIONS

Racing NSW currently partners with the following organisations to create meaningful opportunities for horses and humans.

Corrective Services NSW

Racing NSW has a longstanding joint venture with Corrective Services NSW at St Heliers Correctional Centre in Muswellbrook. A dedicated Equine Welfare and Training Officer retrains and rehomes Team Thoroughbred NSW horses whilst also providing training to inmates who can get nationally recognised qualifications, providing further employment opportunities for them upon their release.

RSL Lifecare

Racing NSW partners with RSL Lifecare to provide opportunities for veterans to interact, learn, and assist Team Thoroughbred NSW horses in their retraining program. The focus of this partnership is to provide an equine therapy program benefitting both horses and humans.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Team Thoroughbred NSW is committed to promoting the suitability and versatility of the Thoroughbred horse in a range of new homes and disciplines. An important part of this strategy is to engage with grassroots organisations such as Pony Clubs, Riding for the Disabled and Equestrian Groups. Developing opportunities for these groups to engage with the industry is vital in promoting the benefits of Thoroughbred ownership, providing education on equine welfare initiatives, and importantly promoting training and career opportunities in the racing industry. In addition, Team Thoroughbred NSW ensures it supports and attends existing equestrian events to drive awareness about equine welfare and encourage Thoroughbred ownership across the varied disciplines.
